Hello everyone!

In this opportunity I’m going to talk about something very interesting for me, that is my future as a midwife. I would like to work here in Chile in Santiago, in the public system, because my ideal is to improve the public health. I think that it is a very hard task but is not impossible and it can became true if we try to do it.

I would like to work first in a hospital, assisting labor and birth. I would like to use everything that we have learned in these two years in university, like the humanization of the birth and the good service that users deserve. To work in the hospital means have to work sometimes in the night, weekends and holidays. Then I would like to work in a “consultorio” because I like a lot the gynecological area and teach to the people about their health. Also I would like to work with teenagers teaching them about their body and their sexuality. Therefore I would like to do three specializations: obstetrics, gynecology and sexuality.

After to do all that I said, I would like to carry out my project that consist in a “birth’s house” where healthy pregnant women can go to have their babies. Because there is not reason to take the healthy women to a hospital where are a lot of sick people and where mothers and children can get sick because of the dangerous environment.

Hello everybody!

Today I’m going to talk about my favorite subject in my career up to the moment. This is “fisiología obstétrica” that refers to the development of the embryo and fetus through the pregnancy and the changes in the mother.

This subject is extremely important in our career, because gives us all the knowledges that we need to do a prenatal check, to help the pregnant women to understand the process that they are living, to take care of their health and the fetus’s health too.

By one hand, this subject is difficult to me because all that the teachers are teaching, I have to learn it very well to be a good professional in the future. Although teachers try to explain us very well all the contents and give us good opportunities to learn like activities of prenatal check. By the other hand, the easiest content of this subject is the nutrition of the pregnant women. The classes are done by different teachers, I think is good to do it like this because the person that does the class is an expert in that topic.

To my mind, all the contents that teachers had taught us are very interesting, but the most that I like are the development of the embryo and fetus, the local and general changes in the mother and the social aspects of the process of pregnancy.

Finally I have to say that I have good grades in this subject.

I am going to tell you about a website that I visit everyday twice or three times at day and that has relation with my career and my university student life, It consist in www.ucursos.cl, or more commonly known as “aula digital”. This is a help for all the students because the teachers upload some power points of the classes, information about subjects, activities, grades etc. In the web site, there is a list of all the subjects we have and the information uploaded is arranged according them. Also we can talk with classmates and teachers through the forum, where we can ask about any doubt about subjects, or give some important information as course like organization of activities to raise money.

In my opinion, this is a very useful way to receive, send and share information that we can use for our tasks, tests, exams etc. It is useful to communicate with teachers and classmates too. This is the reason why I visit it everyday, there is always new information or notes to study and that help us to become in professionals.
